This 86 TH Oven Thermostat is Bush mounted meaning that the 86 TH Oven Thermostat is connected to the body of the stove by means of a bush thread around the shaft going to the 86 TH Oven Thermostat knob. A nut fastens the bush of the 86 TH Oven Thermostat to the body of the stove.

This 86 TH Oven Thermostat Telescopic Knob shaft is 5 mm in Diameter

A 86 TH Oven Thermostat is the Stove Switch that Controls the temperature in the oven by means of switching power to the Oven Elements on and off to keep the oven at the Desired selected temperature.
For instance,
Say the Oven is switched on to 140 degrees Centigrade, then as you rotate the dial of the thermostat to 140 Degrees Centigrade the thermostat puts power onto the Oven elements, which in turn heats up the Oven.
The 86 TH thermostats long capillary and bulb inside the oven then also heats up.
As the oven becomes warmer it sends a signal to the 86TH thermostat that automatic adjust the 86 TH thermostat so the it is aware of the oven temperature. When your Setting of 140 Deg C is reached the thermostat automatically switches power off to the elements. Heat Loss will cause the oven to slowly cool down.
Again as the Oven cools , the Capillary and Bulb on the 86 TH Oven thermostat sends a signal to the 86 TH Thermostat casing it to again automatically adjust to the actual oven temperature. After a while of cooling down a internal setting of the 86 TH Oven Thermostat will record that the cooling down is out of the 86 TH Thermostat's acceptable range and again switch the oven heating Elements on again causing the oven to again heat up and so the cycle is repeated

Oven Temperature Operation and Control

The 86 TH Oven Thermostat has a black Auxiliary connection Box at the bottom of the 86 TH Oven Thermostat , between the 86 TH Oven Thermostat and the knob shaft. This auxiliary Switching connection box controls the Power to the Top (Grill) Element and the Bottom (Bake) Element It also switches the ?Ç£Oven On?ÇØ Pilot light on and Off During Bake Say you set the 86 TH Oven Thermostat to bake a cake at 180 Degrees Centigrade. As the 86 TH Oven Thermostat knob is turned the Black Auxiliary block automatically Connects power to the Bottom ( Bake ) AND to the Top (Grill ) Element. -

This means that there is heat coming From the Top and Bottom of the oven.

Both Top (Grill ) and (Bake ) Elements heat up and this causes the Oven to rapidly heat up to the desired (Selected) heat. 30 Degrees Centigrade before the oven Reaches the Pre-set (Desired) temperature the 86 TH Oven Thermostat will switch power off from the Grill (TOP) Element, this leaves the Final heating of the oven to the Bottom (Bake ) Elements.
When the Pre-set (desired) temperature is reached the 86 TH Oven Thermostat will switch off the Bake (Bottom) element and continue to control the oven temperature using only the Bottom (Bake ) Element as long as Normal Baking conditions stay within Limits.

If the Oven Temperature should Cool greater that 30 Degrees centigrade of the pre-set (Desired ) temperature, (Say the Oven door is opened for slightly to long and the heated Oven air is spilled out the oven ) then the 86 TH Oven Thermostat will automatically switch the Bake (Bottom) AND THE TOP (GRILL ) Element on until the temperature is again within 30 Degrees Centigrade of the pre-set (Desired) temperature were the Bake (Bottom) element will again be the only element heating the oven.

The ?Ç£Oven ON?ÇØ pilot light will switch on and off as the 86 TH Oven Thermostat sends power to the bake (Bottom ) and Grill (Top ) to heat up the oven. This is a great indication to indicate when the oven has reached the pre-set (Desired ) Temperature

During Grill

To Grill You have to rotate the 86 TH Oven Thermostat Know Fully Clockwise to the end ?Ç£GRILL?ÇØ position, this is about a three quarters of a turn. In this Position the Black Auxiliary block automatically disconnects the Bottom (Bake) Element and Connects the Top (Grill) Element. - This means that During Grilling there is No heat coming from the Bottom (Bake) and All the Heat Comes from the TOP (Grill) Elements The ?Ç£Oven ON?ÇØ pilot light will stay on all the time that the 86 TH Oven Thermostat is on Grill Here is a wiring Diagram of how to connect up a 86 TH Oven Thermostat
